Mapping Poverty 2008 report

The Council wants to deliver high quality services to all sections of the communty. This report looks at people claiming Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit and their dependents and will be of interest to people who want to find more about the extent and concentration of poverty in the city.

To get the full picture across the city please look at the complete Mapping Poverty 2008 report. To get data about your Neighbourhood Committee Area and wards therein please look at Area Committee profiles, shown in the column on the left. To look at parts of Mapping Poverty 2006 that may be of interest to you, please click on one of the headings below.

  • Overview of benefit claimant units (roughly equivalent to households), including an overview by wards and a look at tenure type, length of claim and other benefits also claimed
  • Overview of  benefit population (claimants and their dependents), including people receiving Income Support, Job Seekers' Allowance and Pensioner Credit  
  • Families, including child benefit population by age, child density and lone and couple parent claimants
  • Non-pensioners without children
  • Pensioners, including pensioner benefit population by age, those receiving Pensioner Credit and lone and couple claimants
