The purpose of the constitution is to set out the rules that govern how the council works.
The constitution:
- contains rules setting out the processes by which decisions are made
- states who is responsible for making decisions
- contains the rules governing the conduct of meetings
- includes a variety of rules, codes and procedures relating to the council's finances, employment practices, and buying, selling and letting contracts
There is a copy available to read at the Guildhall. Copies can be ordered from the democratic services department with a charge for printing and postage.
