Cambridge City Council is one of the five district councils in Cambridgeshire.

Composition

It is composed of 14 wards, with three councillors elected in each ward, making 42 city councillors in total.

The composition of the city council is:

  • Liberal Democrat 28 seats
  • Labour 11 seats
  • Conservative 1 seat
  • Green 1 seat
  • Independent 1 seat

Each councillor normally serves four years in office. A mayor and a deputy mayor are chosen each year from among the 42 councillors.

Each of the 14 city council wards is also represented by a county councillor on Cambridgeshire County Council. Find out more from the Cambridgeshire County Council website.

Councillors participate in a variety of scrutiny, regulatory and area committees. Find out more in the meetings section.

Register of interests

Councillors are required to register their financial and other interests under the council's code of conduct.
