Healthy Walks
Regular brisk walking can increase fitness, strengthen muscles and increase mobility and balance, allowing participants
to carry out everyday tasks more easily. It also reduces the risk of developing heart disease, diabetes, and osteoporosis
and can be used as part of a weight loss programme.
It is a low impact activity that is unlikely to cause stress on joints, and as no special equipment is needed, it’s free!
Cambridge City Council’s Healthy Walks Scheme aims to provide safe, suitable opportunities for people to increase the amount of walking they do in their community, and become more active. Everyone is welcome, and participants are encouraged to bring their partners, friends, children and dogs!
The walks last between 30 - 45 minutes, incorporating both green and paved areas.
The Community Development team will lead the walks, however the scheme hopes to recruit volunteer walk leaders to take over in the future.
These walks are open to everyone, no matter what your level of fitness. All we ask is that you can walk for 30 minutes, unaided.
