The council has a policy to promote the benefits trees bring to the city. To encourage the planting of more trees we will give you a tree to mark the birth of your baby.
Anyone living within the boundary of the city who has recently become a parent is eligible.
The tree must be planted in Cambridge. Ideally room should be found in your own garden, but if this is not possible perhaps a friend or relative, nursery or playgroup, school or employer could find a place.
We have drafted a list of species from which you can make your choice. Whether your garden is large or small there should be a suitable tree for you. All trees have been selected for their seasonal interest and attractive features.
Apply
Please complete and return the Free Trees for Babies form.
Return the form to the Arboricultural Team, Cambridge City Council, PO Box 700, Cambridge CB1 0JH.
If you require help or further information, please email the arboricultural team at trees@cambridge.gov.uk or telephone 01223 457200.
You can apply at any time of the year, but as the trees must be ordered in early September you will receive your tree in November of the following year if we do not receive your application by 31 August.
We aim to deliver your tree during Tree Week in November, which is the best time of year to plant. You will also receive a stake, tie, compost and planting instructions.
