Historic Core Appraisal

Considers the issues affecting the character of the city's historic core

King's College street entrance

The Historic Core Appraisal seeks to assess the character of the historic core of the city, to consider the issues affecting this character and how we can work together to minimise any threat to the key features and enhance weaker areas.

Section 3 is a street-by-street analysis which looks in detail at all the streets and spaces in the core area.

This document has taken several years to produce and it is important that it is not considered to be a snapshot in time, but is capable of being modified and updated over time to enable it to advise decisions made in the core area for many years to come.

However, because of the long timescale involved its production, there will inevitably be factual errors or omissions and we welcome notification of these.

The appraisal was approved in August 2006 and will be used as a material consideration in the determination of planning and other applications.

In case of enquiry, please email the Historic Environment team at planning.conservation@cambridge.gov.uk or telephone 01223 457200.
