The city council has received 127 responses to the consultation it undertook with residents and stakeholders in January regarding land it owns on Mill Road.
89 of the respondents were opposed to the council giving permission for the land to be used as part of the loading bay.
The consultation arose due to an approach by Sainsbury’s to incorporate the land as part a new loading bay on Mill Road, that formed part of its planning application for a local store on Mill Road.
This is a separate issue to that of the planning application and the council, as landowner, must now decide whether to agree to this use of the land.
The results of the consultation will be provided to the members of East Area Committee on Thursday 9 February.
Rod Cantrill, the Executive Councillor for Arts, Sport and Public Places, will make an informed decision with regard to the approach made by Sainsbury’s after careful consideration of the responses to the consultation process.
