A group of Cambridge City Council employees with more than 750 years' service between them have been praised for their efforts.
A total of 35 staff across Council departments have each served 20, 30 or 40 years - totaling 750 years - and were invited to a Long Service Awards ceremony at the city's Guildhall on Thursday 12 June 2008.
The Mayor, Councillor Mike Dixon presented staff with their awards. He said "The fact that our employees stay with us for 20, 30 or even 40 years provides excellent continuity and we know that there is a whole raft of experience and expertise within our workforce on which we heavily rely."
Rob Hammond, Chief Executive, added: "These great long-serving staff have shown tremendous commitment to Cambridge - both to the Council and the community."
Staff honoured were:
Alan Norton, Ken Hay, Deborah Kaye, Jenny Northfield, Linda Hobson, Beverley Clissold, Sam Vasco-Jarvis, Gill Price, Helen Reed, Brian Wallbank, Alan Wingfield, Matthew Van Heerden, Caroline Burlock, Elizabeth Rolph, George Swindles, Sharon Mason, Trevor Wilson, Bob Scrimshaw, Kevin Roberts, Allan Selin, John Benson, Amanda Rout, Steven O’Dell, Susan Orbell, Sandra Kaftan, Ann Ajayi-Obe, Naomi Armstrong, Wendy Cracknell, Amanda Cornell, Alison Ashford and Linda Lander who all have 20 years’ service.
Brian Crow, Andrew Stannard and April Meredith who all have 30 years’ service.
David Poulter who has 40 years’ service.
