How do you think Cambridge should tackle the challenge of climate change?

News release from 7 May 2008

How should Cambridge change to manage the increasing risks associated with climate change and play its part in the international effort to avert future dangerous climate change? What role should Cambridge City Council play in this endeavour?

The Draft Cambridge Climate Change Strategy & Action Plan, which was launched for a 12 week period of public consultation yesterday until 29th July, outlines how Cambridge City Council intends to respond to these challenges. As it will establish the framework for how the City Council manages its own operations and designs and delivers future services, such as planning, housing, licensing and management of streets and open spaces, it will affect all those who live and work in or visit Cambridge.

Ian Nimmo-Smith, Leader of Cambridge City Council, said "Climate change is a challenge which no single individual or organisation can tackle alone. Our draft climate change strategy and action plan describes how the residents, businesses, community groups and public sector agencies of Cambridge can address the causes and consequences of climate change together, and how the City Council can help make this happen. I would encourage everyone to comment on and hopefully support this strategy and action plan and join our efforts in tackling this challenge together".
