Every summer we organise a series of events on the city's parks.
The Big Weekend is three days of free entertainment held annually on Parker’s Piece. The entertainment includes music, markets, fairgrounds, dance, sports, crafts, fireworks and much more.
The 2012 Big Weekend takes place from 6–8 July and also plays host to the evening celebration for the arrival of the Olympic Torch Relay.

Midsummer Fair
Midsummer Fair, held on Midsummer Common, is one of the oldest fairs in the UK. A charter made in 1211 by King John formalised the holding of an annual fair in the area of the common.
The fair features some of the best new rides around for thrillseekers everywhere, as well as traditional rides including dodgems, carousels and ghost trains.
Bring the family and enjoy the usual fun of the fair including candy floss, hot dogs, toffee apples and more - a great outing, whatever your age!
