Repair services

Requests for repair work should be submitted to an independent living facilitator.

Repair jobs are given categories of urgency. They have to be completed within different timescales, depending on how urgent the work is:

EmergenciesWithin eight hours. We will attend to more serious emergencies within one hour
  • blocked drains
  • serious electrical faults or complete power failure
  • burst or leaking supply pipes or major overflows
  • major roof leaks
  • broken heating systems
  • broken lifts
Urgent RepairsWithin five days
  • electrical faults where there is no risk of injury
  • problems with the hot water supply
  • leaking waste pipes
  • toilets not flushing
  • minor roof leaks
  • jobs which were emergencies at first but have now been made safe
General RepairsWithin 20 days, by appointment
  • roofs
  • heating systems
  • drain pipes
  • noisy ball valves
  • sinks and baths
  • kitchen units and fittings
  • plastering and woodwork
Long term planned maintenanceWe programme these jobs into a regular cycle and will give advance warning when we need to do them
  • servicing your gas central heating
  • decorating the outside of your home
  • replacing fencing

The tenant is responsible for items including:

  • fuses, plugs and light bulbs
  • shelves and fittings installed by the current or a previous tenant
  • tiles, curtain rails, toilet seats, plugs and chains on baths and sinks.

If you are elderly or disabled and live alone we may be able to help with some of these.
