Keeping estates fit for purpose

Estate services

Cambridge City Council's housing department owns a vast amount of green space and communal areas around our council housing estates. This includes grassed areas, shrubbery and flower beds, play parks, drying areas and car parks.

Every month housing officers complete random inspections of the estates to make sure that they are fit for their purpose. We assess our contractors against the standards that we have agreed with them and residents for cleaning and grounds maintenance.

In addition to this, we use customer feedback, gathered through our Street Forums and other consultative processes to improve the areas around your home.

If you feel that you'd like to get involved in monitoring the open spaces around your home, we also have a small team of resident 'green inspectors' who give us feedback on what they think to the areas around their homes.

To get more involved please contact Frances Swann, Senior Housing Officer by email at frances.swann@cambridge.gov.uk, or telephone 0800 587 2031, or speak to your local housing officer.
