The Community Safety Plan has been produced following the completion of the Strategic Assessment which details the main issues relating to crime and disorder in Cambridge.
The recommendations from the Strategic Assessment were then promoted across the city in the press, on line and at Area Committees to gain the opinion of the community. Following this, priorities were agreed for the period of the plan.
The priorities for 2008 – 2011 (which will be refreshed if necessary each year) are:
- Alcohol related violent crime
- Anti-social behaviour, focusing on:
- Alcohol related anti-social behaviour
- Vehicle and pedal cycle related anti-social behaviour
- Burglary of homes
- Domestic violence
- Reducing re-offending
For each of these priorities a lead officer has been appointed and they have identified objectives, targets and actions for each priority.
In addition to the priorities detailed in the Plan there are also a number of ‘themes’ which have been identified. These themes apply to each of the priorities identified and will be considered as part of the work to tackle each priority.
The themes are:
- Children and young people
- Community engagement
- Drugs and alcohol
The Community Safety Plan is set for the period 2008 – 2011, however, it will be refreshed on an annual basis following the production of the Strategic Assessment to ensure that the priorities, objectives and themes remain relevant.
This will ensure the issues that are most important to the people of Cambridge remain as priorities for the Partnership.
Other topics covered in the Plan include the values
of the Partnership and how it works, what was achieved in the last Community Safety Strategy and background to each priority
and theme.
