Cambridge Sustainable City is our programme to improve the environment and promote more sustainable lifestyles. We are a small team based in the Guildhall in central Cambridge.

We work with partners and the local community to deliver tangible environmental benefits through:

  1. promoting environmental awareness and good practice through contributions to Cambridge Matters magazine, environmental events and campaigns (see events)
  2. supporting local environmental projects and initiatives through offering grant funding (see grants)
  3. influencing council policy and working practices:

The Sustainable City team work with other Council departments to ensure that environmental considerations influence both what we do as an organisation (the services we deliver) and how we do it (our working practices). The priority areas for the team in this respect are climate change and sustainable design and construction, particularly with regards to the major housing growth planned for the city.
