We have been working with community groups to consider how the sustainability of the city could be improved.
In July 2009 we submitted four proposals to the Local Government Association in accordance with the Sustainable Communities Act.
The proposals ask the government to make changes to policy or legislation that would help to improve the sustainability of the city.
The proposals relate to:
- reducing the amount of packaging: download the packaging proposal
- encouraging greener forms of transport and reducing congestion: download the transport proposal
- building more affordable housing: download the affordable-housing proposal
- encouraging more renewable-energy schemes and higher energy-efficiency levels in new buildings: download the energy-efficiency proposal
