We aim to involve and support
the local community in Cambridge's efforts to address environmental issues. As a means to achieving this, our Sustainable
City initiative offers grant funding to local groups and organisations whose work brings environmental and community benefits.
We offer two different types of grant funding.
Environmental project grants
These are allocated in support of specific, one-off environmental projects that are based in or being carried out in Cambridge.
Core funding grants
These grants help to cover the ongoing expenditure associated with an environmental organisation's essential or basic workload. For example staff costs, accommodation and administration costs, general operational and maintenance costs.
The types of group and organisation we can support
Grants are available to locally-based groups and organisations undertaking work which give support to our environmental objectives and involve and brings benefits to the residents of Cambridge.
For more information on our environmental objectives read the Cambridge Environmental Framework.
Eligible groups include community groups, residents associations, educational bodies or establishments, environmental and not-for-profit organisations and charities.
We are not able to support individuals, or organisations connected with any political party or involved in party politics, or that operate for private or commercial gain.
Grants are intended for projects that involve the community and are not available to individual householders or organisations to make environmental improvements to houses.
Small energy saving improvement grants are available to householders wishing to make their home more energy efficient.
