This handbook has been produced by the Environmental Health Service of Cambridge City Council and Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service to assist organisers of May Balls and June Events in
- making their entertainments run smoothly for the benefit of those attending whilst
- ensuring adequate public safety and that
- unreasonable disturbance is not caused to local residents.
The organisation of a May Ball is complex and time consuming. The object of the handbook comprises general advice, together with a series of appendices on specific areas.
The law on Licensing has changed. This means that colleges will need to hold a Premises Licence which includes the Ball.
