Our website is changing

As part of our strategy for improving customer service we are updating our website

As part of our strategy for improving customer service across the council, we are updating our website to make it easier to navigate, nicer to look at, and quicker to find the information and services that are important to you.

You will notice a fresh new look, and throughout the course of the customer access strategy all of the sections of the website will be reviewed and updated.

A clearer menu

The green navigation menu is now much simpler to look at, and when you click through the site you will get a feel for how deep in the website you are by the green border getting lighter the further in you go. You will also see the category items for the parent of the one you are in, so you can quickly switch to pages and sections that are on the level above.

Index pages

For the sections we have updated, and for the home page, we have created a new way of getting around the site. As well as using the improved navigation menu, you can click on the pictures and links on the index page to help you get to the information and services you need. We have picked what we think are the most popular and relevant links and put them at the top of the index page to make it even quicker.

Top bar

We have made the title a much more prominent part of the page, and added a familiar breadcrumb trail so you have another way of always seeing where you are in the website, and can click on the links to move into the parent sections. We have also added a short description to each page or section, which will help you find what you are looking for.

Do it online

All our online services are now under the heading Do it online, and will always be in the red section of the page with the tickbox icon. Whether you are paying for your rent, or reporting graffiti, the most relevant online services for the page you are on will be shown. All of our online forms are delivered straight to the appropriate team, or into our new customer service centre where the team is ready to handle your requests and queries and process them quickly.

Online payments

You can still make secure payments for things like Council Tax, rent, and parking fines with ease, just find the links in Do it online from the relevant page on the site.

Tell us what you think

Keep an eye out as we make these changes over the coming days, and check back regularly to see all of the sections updated and improved. We would love to hear your comments and questions about the new look site, so once you’ve had a good look, get in touch and let us know how you got on.
