Every councillor sits on a number of committees and helps make or review decisions on behalf of the council.
Regulatory committees make decisions that the executive councillors are not allowed to make, while decisions that they have made are reviewed by scrutiny committees.
Some of these committees, known as area committees, are relevant to specific areas of the city and give members of the public an opportunity to speak about local issues.
If you would like to raise an issue at your local area committee or speak in favour or opposition of an agenda item to any other committee, you can read more about speaking at committee meetings.
