Canterbury Street traffic calming survey

It has been observed that at peak times (8–9.30am and 3.30–6pm) an increased number of vehicles use Canterbury Street as a shortcut between Huntingdon Road and Histon Road.

City and county councillors are proposing to introduce a traffic-calming measure outside 1–7 Canterbury Street, to deter vehicles from using this route.

Options

The plan of proposed options [PDF] shows the two options being considered.

The first option is to build out the kerb on the north side of the road, and add give-way markings giving precedence to traffic heading towards Huntingdon Road. It also includes adding a stop-line for vehicles turning into North Street.

Option two is similar, but both kerbs will be extended into the centre of the road. Traffic heading towards Huntingdon Road will still be given precedence over that travelling towards Histon Road.

Survey

Please complete our quick survey to tell us whether you agree with the need for the traffic-calming measure, and what you think about the two options.

The survey is open until Friday 16 March.
