A civic ceremony was held at the Guildhall on Sunday 29 January.

The programme reflected on the theme for Holocaust Memorial Day 2012: ‘Speak Up, Speak Out’.

Guest speakers included Martin Bell, the ex-BBC correspondent and independent MP who now works for UNICEF, paralympian Ann Chadwick, and Zuza Vrbova, the daughter of one of the few people to have escaped from Auschwitz.
