Highlights
This year, the Fitzwilliam Museum is hosting various events including a workshop on ancient Egyptian headrests and a lecture on the presentation of women on African descent in art and literature. Also, follow the Kemet Trail to get a flavour of life in Ancient Egypt.
‘Different in England’ is two different lectures reflecting two different times. The first is about Alexander Crummell, an African American from New York, who in 1849–53 read for a degree at Queen’s College, and the second sees Carlene Firmin, Yasmin Alibhai-Brown and Matthew Ryder discuss whether the race debate is over.
The free family event at the Meadows Community Centre will have activities for all age-groups, including performances, sports, games, arts and crafts.
