To run a sex shop — meaning any premises selling sex toys, books or videos — or operate a sex entertainment venue such as a lap-dancing club, you may need a licence from the council.

To run a venue where explicit films are shown to members of the public, you also need a licence.

However, you may request that we waive the requirement of a licence.

Apply

You can download the relevant application form from the Businesslink website:

A fee of £4,717 is payable upon application. Tacit approval does not apply. Please contact us if you have not heard from us within 40 days.
