Anyone running a dog breeding establishment must apply for a licence from us.
This is set out in the Breeding of Dogs Act 1991.
Definition
A "breeding establishment" is defined as the practice of breeding of dogs with a view to their being sold.
Standards and inspections
The act outlines standards of management and accommodation, as well as providing for a process of inspection.
An annual inspection is carried out by one of our officers.

You can apply for a dog breeding establishment licence by downloading the application form and returning it to us.
Once your application and administration fee have been received we will contact you to discuss your application and arrange an inspection.
