Purchasing? Procurement? Contracting? Tendering? The variety of terms can be confusing but supplying us need not be.
We want to develop and maintain a good relationship with our suppliers, whether they are local, regional, national or international, private, public or from the voluntary sector.
We need a diverse and competitive supplier base that enables us to match our requirements with the relevant strengths and characteristics of the supplier.
We are undertaking a major review of the way we undertake our procurement. Our intention is to secure savings in time and money for both ourselves and suppliers who tender for our work while, at the same time, maintaining high standards of service and quality for the citizens of Cambridge.
Our plans for the future are set out in our procurement strategy. A large part of the improvement will rely upon our approach to e-procurement.
We hope in the future to be able to source what we need, order and pay on line with a minimum of paperwork and fuss.
We have some way to go and we hope that you will join us in achieving better procurement in the future.
