Cambridge City Architects (CCA) is the architectural arm of the council's building services. CCA is headed by Paul Marshall RIBA, Principal Architect.
CCA is involved in a wide range of commissions for both Cambridge City Council and other external public organisations.
It has experience in many forms of new build and refurbishment projects which include:
- community leisure facilities
- park and ride user facilities
- workshops
- offices
- pavilions
- swimming pool facility upgrades
- social housing for equity share, special and general needs
CCA are able to call on the expertise of mechanical and electrical services.
The in-house consultancy operates on private practice lines within the council framework. The private practice and local authority experience of staff combine to create a team of well balanced skills.
The section is committed to providing both the City Council and it's 'external' clients with imaginative and sensitive architecture where design solutions are as practical, durable and energy conscious as possible.

- professional design for all types and sizes of schemes
- planning supervisor for all contracts under the CDM Regulations
- project management of schemes
- experience in 'external' social housing work for housing associations
- experience in working together with other LA architecture sections
- knowledge of the planning and building control process together with other council departments to help progress individual schemes
- drawing presentations - artistic, to promote a scheme
- historical knowledge and information regarding past architectural schemes in the city
- dealing with tenants, public consultations and relating to client staff
- CAD drawings for production information (if required)
- hand drawn design work and sketch plans
- indicative cost plans on small jobs
