The Council Tax you pay is divided between four local authorities:
- the county council
- the police authority
- the fire authority
- the city council
The first table shows how the money is divided, as an amount and as a percentage of the total.

Amounts are proportionally smaller for bands A-C and proportionally larger for bands E-H.

City council expenditure
Our budget for 2010-11 requires £476 per Band D property in Cambridge.
The money we receive from Council Tax contributes towards this, and the remaining amount (£309 is made up from government grants.
The total is then divided among a number of services.
The second table shows the amount given to each service along with monies received from the government and other budgetary adjustments. (Figures have been rounded to the nearest pound.)
