Property left empty by people who have died are exempt from Council Tax for six months following the date of probate or a letter of administration are granted (Class F).

If the property remains empty and furnished after the initial six-month period has passed, the discount will be reduced to 10%.

If you remove furnishings after the initial six-month period, you may have to reapply for exempt property status as an unoccupied and unfurnished property (Class C).

You will have to provide the date on which Probate or a letter of administration was granted.
